WHAT IS PANDEMIC FLU
Pandemic flu is different from ordinary flu, because it only occurs when a new flu virus emerges into the human population and spreads from human to human. H1N1 Swine flu virus now has the potential to become the next global pandemic flu virus.
As a new H1N1 virus, the entire population of the world will be susceptible, because no one will have any immunity to it. The lack of immunity in the population will mean that the swine flu virus has the ability to spread very quickly between people. This will result in many more people becoming ill. The circumstances now exist for H1N1 Swine flu virus to become that new virus, and there is the possibility that it will spread around the world in the form of the new strain of H1N1 Swine Flu, causing a flu pandemic.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO H1N1 POTENTIAL PANDEMIC FLU VIRUS TO INFECT HUMANS
The abrupt mutation of genetic material seems to have occurred through the third party species, the pig, in which there is evidence that simultaneous infection with Swine, human and avian influenza does occur. Now this mutation has occurred, and if there are proven cases of human to human transmission, this would be the start of a global flu pandemic.
